So I wrote a post earlier today about Rhonda’s compelling title. Again, it was compelling from a marketing standpoint because I’m a cynical person and I still clicked on it. Anyways, I had a comment from Alan (I am always happy for constructive, well written comments) and then I started to wonder, “how did Alan find my post”.
So I bounced over to Rain City Guide and hit cntrl+f and typed in my department… There I was at comment #23. I had forgotten to disable the “pingback” on my blog settings. So there was my annoying little snippet from my post in the comments section.

So I have subsequently disabled my pingbacks and extend a humble apology to the folks at RCG because I would find that annoying. Hey, I used the word subsequently twice today. Maybe I should try out for “Are you smarter than a fifth grader”.

Ryan: Out of curiosity, what do you not like about pingbacks? If someone is talking about a RCG post, I think it’s a great tool to let others follow along the many threads of the conversation…
Dustin,
I guess it’s more about the way the snippet of text is displayed more than anything. For better or worse, my ping about Rhonda’s title stuck out like a sore thumb. Here I was reading a nice flowing conversation and then BAM!, an out of place snippet from some website “Department of Search”.
I guess I was worried about getting blasted from everyone at RCG. But if you guys don’t mind, I will re-enable pingbacks and make sure that anything I write about is worthy.
By the way, love your work.
Thanks again,
Ryan Rose
I can see where you’re coming from… but I never mind when others are talking about us!
Best!
Good to know!
